Hurray for the Riff Raff Unveils New Album and Single
Alynda Segarra, the force behind Hurray for the Riff Raff, has exciting news for fans with the announcement of their upcoming album, "The Past Is Still Alive." Set to release on February 23, 2024, through Nonesuch Records, the album follows the success of Hurray for the Riff Raff's 2022 release, "Life on Earth."
The first single from the upcoming album, "Alibi," provides a glimpse into the emotional depth and introspective themes that Segarra explores in "The Past Is Still Alive." The track, according to Segarra, serves as a plea and a last-ditch effort to connect with someone they anticipate losing. In a reflective tone, Segarra describes the song as a personal dialogue, a reckoning with time and memory, expressing the exhaustion of loving someone to the point of pain.
Collaborating with producer Brad Cook and a talented lineup of contributors, including vocalists Anjimile, Conor Oberst, and S.G. Goodman, along with various musicians, Segarra crafted an album that delves into the complexities of life, love, and loss. Recorded a month after the passing of Segarra's father, "The Past Is Still Alive" promises to be a poignant and evocative musical journey.
Fans can anticipate a diverse and emotionally resonant experience with the album's release in February, as Hurray for the Riff Raff continues to captivate audiences with their distinctive sound and lyrical depth.
