Charli XCX and Sam Smith Drop Their New Song "In the City"

Charli XCX and Sam Smith have unleashed their latest musical collaboration, a single titled "In the City." Charli XCX lent her production skills to the track, working alongside Ilya, A. G. Cook (founder of PC Music), Omer Fedi, and George Daniel from the 1975. You can give "In the City" a listen down below.

Describing the song, Charli XCX shared her thoughts, saying, "The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places. It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once-in-a-lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there."

The collaboration between Charli XCX and Sam Smith was first hinted at earlier this year when Charli XCX appeared in the music video for her song "Speed Drive." During the video, she takes a video call from Sam Smith, who wants to discuss "the new mix." Smith also mentions that they need to "submit so we can get it out," although it remains a mystery what "it" refers to.

While "In the City" is their first official joint track, Charli XCX and Sam Smith have been connected in the music world for some time. Back in 2014, Charli XCX covered Sam Smith's massive hit, "Stay With Me."
