There are a few games that I find addictive and I have always liked simulation games. I remember the early versions of Civilisation and other similar games that allowed you to slowly build up your empire through careful strategic decisions and planning.
The Aim of Town Star
The aim of Town Star is to build an effective town based on agriculture and mining. One of the nice things about the games is that there are quite different gameplays available and you can slowly learn the tricks of making your town more efficient.
There are multiple terrains available such as dessert, woodland and grassland. Each has different benefits. The dessert for example provides an oil well where you can easily get crude oil whereas in other terrain types you need to pay for pumps to get the oil out of the ground.
Game play
When you start the game you have some basic wheat fields and a farmer that will go and harvest the wheat and put it in the silo. You can then sell the wheat when you have 10 units, however, to sell you need fuel to transport your products to the market. The first challenge is that you start with limited gasoline and you will need to buy the right assets to produce more gasoline. You don't have the money for that so you will need to sell your wares to gain the money you need. The challenge is to not run out of money before you can produce gasoline and become sustainable.
Once you have a sustainable production of gasoline, the aim is to then produce high-value goods that will gain better financial returns. Again, there are different options here. You can go into the bread business, producing steel, or perhaps wine. Each has different requirements and will pose different challenges to produce.
Play to Earn
To make it even better, you can earn Town Coin in the game. To receive a pay out in Town Coin you need to collect stars. The stars are also rewarded on the sale of goods but the yield is progressively more for the higher value goods. That is, if you sold goods worth 10 times more you would receive more than 10 times the amount of stars. This rewards you therefor for producing high value goods rather than just mass producing low value goods.
The picture shows me collecting my 8 Town Star Coin for the day which is at the time of writing worth $0.64 according to Coingecko.
I am able to collect 8 Town Start Coin a day by collecting stars but each day becomes slightly harder than the previous day (until they game resets). This encourages players to actually play and make their towns more efficient so that they can keep getting the rewards.
