I have been raving about Steemit to my girlfriend for weeks; about how revolutionary Steemit is and how it has become my go to source of information / news - and it has mostly receiving a lackluster acknowledgement. I think that she just thought that Steemit was just Wordpress for boys... well today that all changed...

I'm not a particularly good public speaker. In fact, none of the team in which I work in are particularly partial to giving presentations; which is why my boss sprang the 'fun' challenge of all of us giving short presentations on something which interests us on Monday morning - 4th July.

Well, this I thought shouldn't be so hard - I already have a topic which I've spent hours talking about buzzing around inside my head - Steemit.

I enlisted the help of my girlfriend to create the slides for the presentation (having slides for me is my safety net; a useful cue that helps me when my mind goes blank form stage fright). The process of creating the slide, showing her around the site and explaining the hype around tomorrow's payout seems to have done the trick... she has finally joined - and posted her first post / "story".

Great news! A success story of epic proportions I hear you cheer...

Well the problem is that with all of the excitement of getting voted up, her F5 key now looks something like this
burnt out F5 key

And it has become a popularity contests now - who can get the most likes, whose post is the most valuable, "look at me sitting at the top of 'hot'"; I'm having flashbacks of school again.

I am glad that I have finally managed to convinced my girlfriend that Steemit is great. Let's see how it goes with my team tomorrow...!
