Greetings and blessings, my dear needle friends. I hope you are doing great with health and wellness and that this is an inspirational and very productive week.

Today, I am happy to share my participation in the Christmas contest NeedleWork your Christmas in our beautiful and creative community.

This is my first time participating in this contest and I thoroughly enjoyed every step I took to get to today to submit the project I chose to participate in.

Looking for inspiration to make a project that would be easy, beautiful and durable, because I wanted it to be something that would mark this Christmas and that would remain as a memory of what I like to do so much, I found this video which explains very well how to make a Christmas scarf that I loved.

Immediately, I thought of making two scarves: one for me and one for my daughter. So I took action and started knitting. Here are the materials I used and the two scarves I knitted with lots of love and enthusiasm for my participation.

Hoy, estoy feliz de compartir mi participación en el concurso de Navidad NeedleWork your Christmas en nuestra hermosa y creativa comunidad.

Esta es la primera vez que participo en este concurso y me disfruté mucho cada paso que di para llegar al día de hoy a presentar el proyecto que escogí para participar.

Buscando inspiración para hacer un proyecto que fuera fácil, bonito y duradero, pues quería que fuera algo que marcara esta Navidad y que quedara como un recuerdo de lo que tanto me gusta hacer, encontré este video en el que se explica muy bien cómo hacer una bufanda navideña que me encantó.

De inmediato, pensé en hacer dos bufandas: una para mí y otra para mi hija. Así que me puse en acción y comencé a tejer. Por acá, les dejo los materiales que usé y las dos bufandas que tejí con mucho amor y entusiasmo para mi participación.

Materials for my project.

To make these scarves I used a 3.5mm needle and the Nube brand crochet yarns 100% acrylic in the three traditional Christmas colors: white, red and green. Each roll of yarn is 50 gr. and comes in 125mts. I love knitting with this brand of yarn because it is soft and allows me to knit the stitches deliciously fast. It's as if magic is made to the rhythm of my fingers and the wool with that characteristic sound of the rubbing of both.

Materiales para mi proyecto

Para hacer estas bufandas usé una aguja de 3.5mm y los hilos para crochet de la marca Nube 100% acrílico en los tres colores tradicionales de la Navidad: Blanco, rojo y verde. Cada rollo de hilo es de 50 gr. y trae 125mts. Me encanta tejer con esta marca de hilos porque es suave y me permite tejer los puntos deliciosamente rápido. Es como si se hiciera magia al ritmo de mis dedos y la lana con ese sonido característico del roce de ambos.

Step by step

In the link to the video I shared with you, the whole knitting process is explained in detail. So I'll leave it here in case you want to knit your scarf for Christmas.

The knitting starts with a chain of 15 stitches and one more to start the first round of stockinette stitches. In total, 16 rows are made with the color red, which is the color with which the scarf is knitted. Then, change colors, following the same pattern. In total, nine parts are knitted, three of each color: three of red, three of green and three of white. All of them must have 16 rows of medium-high stitches.

For the final finishing of the scarf. I cut strips of 24 cm. I cut two combined colors: red and green. This way I was interspersing them in the final stitches of the scarf with a little lark knot. I loved how these bangs looked at the end of my scarf.

Paso a paso

En el enlace del video que les compartí se explica detalladamente todo el proceso de tejido. Así que se los dejo por si se animan a tejer sus bufanda para estrenarlas en los días de Navidad.

El tejido se inicia con una cadeneta de 15 puntos y uno más para comenzar la primera vuelta de puntos medios altos. En total se hacen 16 vueltas con el color rojo que es con el que se comienza a tejer la bufanda. Luego, se hace cambio de color, siguiendo el mismo patrón. En total, se tejen nueve partes, tres de cada color: tres de color rojo, tres de color verde y tres de color blanco. Todas deben tener 16 vueltas de puntos medios altos.

Para el acabado final de la bufanda. Se cortan tiras de 24 cms. Yo corté de dos colores combinados: rojo y verde. Así los fui intercalando en los puntos finales de la bufanda con un nudito alondra. Me encantó cómo se veían estos flecos al final de mi bufanda.

When it was finished, I wanted to give it my personal touch of creativity and I embroidered some Christmas branches on the white woven part to make it stand out.

It was quite a challenge to embroider on this woven base, but I did it. First I embroidered the little red balls and then the green sprigs, trying to embroider them in the thickest part of the fabric. I embroidered two Christmas branches. I think they are beautiful and give it the perfect Christmas touch.

This is how my knitted and embroidered scarf was finished. A wish come true, because this was what I wanted to do and that with each stitch a memory of these days of knitting this Christmas would be created.

Cuando estuvo terminada, quise darle mi toque personal de creatividad y le bordé unos ramitos navideños en la parte tejida de color blanco para que resaltara.

Fue todo un reto bordar en esta base tejida, pero lo logré. Primero bordé las pelotitas rojas y luego los ramitos verde, tratando de que me quedaran en la parte más gorditas o con más hilos del tejido. Le bordé dos ramitos navideños. Me parece que quedaron bellos y le dan el toque navideño perfecto.

Así quedó terminada mi bufanda tejida y bordada. Un deseo hecho realidad, pues esto era lo que quería hacer y que con cada puntada se creara un recuerdo de los días de tejido en esta Navidad.

I was so happy with my scarf that I wore it on Saturday to celebrate, with my family, the night of the candles, a beautiful Colombian tradition in which you light candles and make wishes. Many of my clients asked me about my scarf and I proudly said: I made it!

Estaba tan feliz con mi bufanda que me la estrené el sábado para celebrar, con mi familia, la noche de las velitas, una hermosa tradición colombiana en la que se enciendes velitas y se piden deseos. Muchos de mis clientes me preguntaron por mi bufanda y yo, toda orgullosa, decía: ¡La hice yo!

To knit the scarf for my daughter, I chose only two colors: red and green, following the same pattern, and I finished it yesterday on our day out, surrounded by nature, in the midst of its goodness and peace.

Para tejer la bufanda para mi hija, escogí solo dos colores: rojo y verde, siguiendo el mismo patrón, y la terminé ayer en nuestro día de paseo, rodeada de naturaleza, en medio de sus bondades y de su paz.
