People expect me to read all the time...I don't.
But you write a lot...shouldn't you be reading a lot ?

Now, I'm going to finish this sentence. NO THEY DON'T!
I cannot read very well, sorry let me rephrase that. I CAN read, but my dyslexia makes me dart around a page like a frog on speed, plus I miss words due to this crazy word blindness I appear to have. So, although I can read books, I miss a lot of the detail.
Here's my literacy absorbing system:
- I listen more than I read
- I watch more than I listen
- I write more than I watch
I use audio books and watch film/video, to absorb what would have been in most cases a written literature piece. I only really read text books for uni. If I can avoid books nowadays I do. I have given up trying to be a 'reader' because it is expected.
I absorb a lot of literature on a daily basis. More non-fiction than anything else. In fact I prefer non-fiction audio books and documentaries. I only really absorb fiction through TV and theatre.
Once I absorb literature, I write about stuff using my imagination from what I have learnt. It multiplies as my imagination expands. The reason I write more than I 'absorb' on a daily basis.
