I have hesitation should I make this post on here OCD, this post is a video console related, I have took a look on the game related community on here hive but most of them are focusing on the blockchain games or focus on specific game, sounds this post cannot fit to the game communities on the Hive, therefore I decided to post on OCD instead.
My previously post on OCD mentioned that I was super addicted on Japanese robot figure and video console when I was a kid (see @atyh/can-t-get-rid-of)
I still buy some robot figure until today but I don't play the video console too much as I did in the past. (I got a brand new X Box Series X last year for killing time but I only play an hour a week now)
With the modern technology the video consoles have much better function and configuration nowadays, the games on the video consoles are much more complicated when compared to the games in the past 20 years, we have super high resolution games on the Xbox / PS5, can connect our console to the internet playing with all the player all over the world, etc. Somehow I think such features are as not as attractive as the simple games on SEGA Saturn or PS backward.
Well, I don't think the young people have interest on such old school console and games, but I still remember how I enjoyed on playing such "simple" games in the past.
Say, it was super difficult to get the Sega Saturn version of King of Fighter 95 in Hong Kong, I didn't know the true reason but I heard a rumor that because there was some problem on producing the special RAM card so they ended up stop the mass production on KOF 95 for Sega Saturn, anyway, I was so insist to get the original KOF 95 for SS so I asked my mom to take me here and there for the KOF 95 hunting, thank god I finally got it. 😍😍😍 it costed us HK$ 270 back in 1996 which is a big money to us.
I have keeping the console and games very well until today, all the games and the console can still run very well, I have test it few months ago. But sometimes I had trouble to play the X men vs Street Fighter with the 4MB RAM card, maybe it has been 20 years and the console cannot detect the RAM card very well, I need to try many time to pull out the card and put it back on the console to run the game successfully.
Beside the X men VS Street Fighter and KOF 95, I remember I love the KOF 97 the best, I just curious to search on the internet to see how many people still playing KOF97 / 98 nowadays, and I am super surprised to know that the KOF 97 / 98 is still very popular, many people still having a online match on the internet nowadays.
In fact I also bought the KOF 97 on my X box series X and most of the time I am playing the KOF 97 while I switch on my X Box, is it weird for people buy a high configuration of video console to playing the super old school game? Maybe, but I really enjoy it.
Maybe someday my Sega Saturn console and the games are not able to run anymore, but I will still keep them at my home, it's all about my good memory, I won't let them go.
