One of the greatest lessons taught today was "Pace". Every tick of the clock someone in the neighborhood is passing to eternity. It could be our friends, course mate, family members, or a very dear loved one who have not known or made commitment with Christ. With the increase in the world population, someone somewhere is passing to eternity without Christ, therefore, there's need to speed up Disciples-making process. At the funeral service today I observed with utter amazement the overwhelming enthusiasm people showed over the deceased.
The first thought that came so fast to mind was the picture of the biblical rich man and Lazarus as Luke accounts in Luke 19. The rich man upon his death found himself in torment and in dearth need of help whereas on earth people, his family members, friends and well-wishers were busy making merriment and being in all moods of fantasy. They never knew what great pain the rich man was undergoing. This was rather the sad part that popped into my mind, when the crowd thronged into frenzy.
The only way people can get out of brokenness is the eternal door God provides in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. And it remains a sublime objective for all believers to obey the call to go and make disciples. Pace is simply letting us know time isn't in our hands. Everyone should double up to meet the time.
My congregation learnt this new information today and many came to virile decision that would make great impact and marks the turning point in their lives.
