Today I got to Ukambi, a farmland community near Bekwara in Obudu. Here new believers have been raised and are undergoing discipleship. Here I was led to the forest where the brethren usually meet for solitude and prayers. A portion of the bush is cleared to provide convenience and relaxation. The place provides for both individuals and group prayer projects. Many believers have this place dedicated solely for spiritual refreshment. I equally had a solitude and sabbath myself. Moreover, I was exposed to a traditional talking stone, near the prayer spot. The stone is used to predict victory during community clashes in the area. It baffled me to see a dead stone talk to hearing of the humans. When eventually war broke out with neighboring communities, the chief priest would consult the stone buried in the earth and dirt, to predict the fate of the village in the rising conflicts. Whichever, direction the prediction goes would have the people to decide or adhere to. However, with the potency of prayers, the people are turning away from such superstitious belief. The Gospel is gaining greater entrance into the heart of most indigenes. Lot of interest to evangelize the community is on motion and many are being discipled. Alongside, the traditional adherents are persecuting the new believers and have hindered them from participating in worship service. But the brethren remain adamant the their commitment to the Lord. These group of believers have placed their faith alone in Christ alone.
Pray for more grace for them to remain faithful and dogged to the Lord and profession. Pray that I develop a strategy for the new believers to grow to maturity in faith.
