Stung eagle tarantula?
The advice I give in the lecture is to lie down and scream. The pain is so debilitating and torturous that the victim is at risk of further injury by tripping over a hole or on an object on the road and then dropping into a cactus or entering a barbed wire fence.
Such is the pain that stings so that almost no one can maintain normal coordination or cognitive control to prevent unintentional injury..
Screaming is satisfying and helps reduce attention to pain in stings. Little, if any, people will be stung willingly by a tarantula eagle. I know there is no such example of courage in the name knowledge, because spps spider reputation - especially the tarantula eagle - is well known among biological communities. All the sting occurs on the enthusiasm of the collector in obtaining the specimen and usually results in the stung person uttering the swear words, throwing insect webs into the air, and screaming. The pain was instantaneous, troubling, torturous, and very debilitating.
Howard Evans, the great naturalist and author of the most delightful books Life on Little Known Planet, Wasp Farm, and The Pleasures of Entomology, is an expert on solitary wasps. Howard, the quiet little man with his shiny white hair and the shimmer in his eyes, loves hawks tarantula. Once, in his dedication to this wasp investigation, Howard captured the possibility of 10 female tarantulas from the flower. He enthusiastically reached into the insect net to take it back, and after the first sting, continued, received several more stings, until the pain was so great that he lost everything and crawled into the gutter and just sobbed. Later, he said he was too greedy.
