Surah Al-Fatiha - سورۃ الفاتحہ
The Opening

1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Urdu: اللہ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان، نہایت رحم والا ہے
English: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
2. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Urdu: تمام تعریفیں اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں جو تمام جہانوں کا رب ہے
English: All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds,
3. الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Urdu: جو بڑا مہربان، نہایت رحم والا ہے
English: the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
4. مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Urdu: جزا کے دن کا مالک ہے
English: Master of the Day of Judgment.
5. إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
Urdu: ہم تیری ہی عبادت کرتے ہیں اور تجھ ہی سے مدد مانگتے ہیں
English: You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.
6. اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Urdu: ہمیں سیدھا راستہ دکھا
English: Guide us to the straight path,
7. صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Urdu: ان لوگوں کا راستہ جن پر تو نے انعام کیا، نہ کہ ان کا جن پر غضب ہوا اور نہ گمراہوں کا
English: the path of those You have blessed, not of those who incurred ˹Your˺ wrath, nor of those who ورۃ الفاتحہ کی تفسیر - Tafseer of Surah Al-Fatiha ❤️
سورۃ الفاتحہ قرآن کی پہلی سورت ہے۔ اسے "ام الکتاب" یعنی کتاب کی ماں بھی کہتے ہیں۔ اس میں پورے قرآن کا خلاصہ ہے۔
آیت وار تفسیر:
1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
تفسیر: ہر کام شروع کرنے سے پہلے اللہ کا نام لینا۔
"الرحمٰن" = دنیا میں سب پر رحم کرنے والا - مسلمان، کافر، سب کو رزق دیتا ہے
"الرحیم" = خاص طور پر آخرت میں مومنوں پر رحم کرنے والا
سبق: ہر کام اللہ کے نام سے شروع کرو تو برکت ہوگی۔
2. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
تفسیر: سب تعریف صرف اللہ کے لیے ہے کیونکہ وہ "رب العالمین" ہے۔
رب کا مطلب: پیدا کرنے والا، پالنے والا، حفاظت کرنے والا، نظام چلانے والا۔
عالمین = انسان، جن، فرشتے، جانور، ساری کائنات
سبق: شکر صرف اللہ کا ادا کرو۔
3. الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
تفسیر: پھر سے اللہ کی رحمت کا ذکر۔ اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ بندہ مایوس نہ ہو۔
جتنا بڑا گناہ ہو، اللہ کی رحمت اس سے بڑی ہے۔
4. مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
تفسیر: قیامت کے دن کا مالک صرف اللہ ہے۔ اس دن کوئی سفارش، رشوت نہیں چلے گی۔
سبق: آخرت کو یاد رکھو اور اس دن کی تیاری کرو۔
5. إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
تفسیر: یہ بندے اور اللہ کا "معاہدہ" ہے۔
عبادت = نماز، روزہ، صدقہ، ہر کام اللہ کے لیے
استعانت = مدد بھی صرف اللہ سے مانگو
سبق: شرک سے بچو۔ پیر، قبر، دنیا سے مدد کی امید نہ رکھو۔
6. اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
تفسیر: سب سے بڑی دعا۔ "اے اللہ ہمیں سیدھا راستہ دکھا"
صراط مستقیم = اسلام کا راستہ، نبی ﷺ اور صحابہ کا راستہ
ہم روز 17 بار یہ دعا مانگتے ہیں کیونکہ انسان بہک جاتا ہے۔
7. صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ...
تفسیر: سیدھا راستہ کن کا ہے؟
- انعام یافتہ = انبیاء، صدیقین، شہداء، صالحین
- مغضوب = وہ لوگ جنہوں نے حق پہچان کر چھوڑ دیا - یہود کا ذکر
- ضالین = وہ لوگ جو بغیر علم کے بھٹک گئے - نصاریٰ کا ذکر
سبق: ہمیں علم کے ساتھ عمل بھی چاہیے۔
سورۃ الفاتحہ کے 3 بڑے حصے: - آیات 1-4: اللہ کی تعریف - "ثناء"
- آیت 5: عہد - "عبادت اور مدد"
- آیات 6-7: دعا - "ہدایت مانگنا"
فضیلت:
نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: "جس نے سورۃ الفاتحہ نہیں پڑھی اس کی نماز نہیں ہوئی"۔
یہ شفا بھی ہے۔ اسے "سورۃ الشفاء" بھی کہتے ہیں۔
اللہ ہمیں اس پر عمل کی توفیق دے۔ آمین
Surah Al-Fatiha is the first chapter of the Quran. It's called "Umm-ul-Kitab" - the Mother of the Book, because it contains the summary of the whole Quran.
Verse by Verse Explanation:
1. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Tafseer: We start every good deed with Allah's name for blessings.
Ar-Rahman = The One who is merciful to all creation in this world - Muslim and non-Muslim
Ar-Raheem = The One who is especially merciful to believers in the Hereafter
Lesson: Begin everything with Allah so He puts barakah in it.
2. All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds
Tafseer: All thanks and praise belong only to Allah because He is "Rabb-ul-Alameen".
Rabb means: The Creator, Sustainer, Provider, Protector, and Controller of everything.
Alameen = All worlds - humans, jinn, angels, animals, entire universe
Lesson: Be grateful only to Allah.
3. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Tafseer: Allah repeats His mercy so that we never lose hope.
No matter how big our sins are, Allah's mercy is bigger.
4. Master of the Day of Judgment
Tafseer: On the Day of Judgment, only Allah will have authority. No bribery, no connections will work that day.
Lesson: Remember the Hereafter and prepare for it.
5. You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help
Tafseer: This is the covenant between the servant and Allah.
Worship = Prayer, fasting, charity, and all actions done for Allah
Seek help = Ask only from Allah
Lesson: Avoid shirk. Don't depend on people, graves, or worldly things for help.
6. Guide us to the straight path
Tafseer: This is the biggest dua in the Quran. "Oh Allah, guide us to the straight path"
The Straight Path = The path of Islam, the path of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions
We recite this 17 times a day because humans easily go astray.
7. The path of those You have blessed, not of those who incurred ˹Your˺ wrath, nor of those who went astray
Tafseer: Who are on the straight path? - Those You have blessed = Prophets, the truthful, martyrs, and righteous people
- Those who incurred Your wrath = People who knew the truth but rejected it
- Those who went astray = People who worshipped without knowledge and got lost
Lesson: We need both knowledge AND action.
Surah Al-Fatiha has 3 main parts: - Verses 1-4: Praising Allah - "Thana"
- Verse 5: The Covenant - "Worship and seeking help"
- Verses 6-7: The Dua - "Asking for guidance"
Virtues:
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever does not recite Surah Al-Fatiha, his prayer is not valid."
It is also called "Surah Ash-Shifa" - The Chapter of Healing.
May Allah give us the ability to act upon it. Ameen
