The days trickle past, like water's flow,
Each morn brings change reflected plain to see.
Within the mirror's gaze I watch life's show
Of how the stream of time works upon me.
Yet 'mid the alteration that creeps near,
One sight stays steadfast through the passing years -
That visage smiling with kin recognition,
A face at once familiar yet dear.
While seasons shear and joys may come and flee,
This reflection faithfully stands its ground.
Age takes its toll on flesh, that core of me
Abides within this glass, there safe and sound.
Time's waters shift the banks of skin and bone,
My inmost self stays constant, there alone.
