The first rain of August arrives,
presaging the end of summer's ardour,
with thunder that screams in a blind dance,
they sound fierce, like a judgement.
The skies churn, the air stirs,
a slight trembling of glass in the hearth,
while in the distance the storm invites
hearts to sigh.
Outside, children awaken to play,
their laughter is echoes of pure emotion,
jumping in the puddles, feeling the unfolding
of the rain that dances in its own song.
