The economic hardship has cause a toll on millions of families all over the world and in some places, it comes at the price that a child must pay.
I visited the market today and got to take these photos. The first thing that got to my mind before I captured this first image was "child’s labour" I saw this little boy carrying a big sack bag on his back and I wondered where he was heading to alone, then I looked further and saw his Mother waiting for him. He was being pulled back by the heavy sack bag he was carrying so he couldn’t meet up with his Mom. Was he forced to carry it or he was just helping his Mother? That I can’t answer.
Children may be forced to work for various reasons. And this may occur when families face financial challenges, whether due to poverty, sudden death of a caregiver, or unemployment for the main source supplier.
And I went ahead with my business in the market to purchase some green vegetables for my soup. I met the seller and her daughter selling their goods. But this time is was a bit different because the daughter was a grownup who was just helping her Mother to meet ends meet.
The consequences for child labour can cause an extreme physical, and mental harm, and even cause death. It can rob children of their childhood and affect their social development.
This is my entry for the #monomad photography contest.
