How I Met My Step-Dad
I told my mom about hive and it’s benefits, she was excited. Guess what was the first thing she said. She told me to write about how we met our step-dad LOL... yeah because it’s quite an interesting story, like this motivated me a lot.
Ok here we go, I lost my dad way back 25 years ago that’s a very long time and I was still a baby when this happened and my mom was pregnant with my younger brother. I didn’t get to know him very much but they say I look very much like him. My mom said he was calm, gentle and handsome. Even when I look at his pictures I see these attribute in him, but death took him away from us.
On one faithful day in 2009, my mom was on a business trip to Lagos, she boarded a bus and there was a man sitting beside her in the bus, she was reading a christian book by Joyce Meyer, he looked at her and smiled, then brought out same book from his suitcase and showed it to her, telling her how he love the author’s books and she gave him a smile in return.
Their conversation went on and on...they spoke about so many things smiling and laughing like they knew themselves before, there was already a strong chemistry between them and he was a widower also. He told her how he lost his wife to failed health that same year and he had just a daughter. She said her own story and their conversation went deeper with the feeling that their meeting was destined.
Finally they got to Lagos, exchange contacts because they were going to a different destination and It was hard to say goodbye. On her return from the trip, she told us everything she knows about him, how he looked, what he does and how the whole conversation started. She was so happy, she was in love already. We were also happy because we wanted someone to call Dad again and she has been alone for a long time, she needed a partner.
One day my mom got a call from him, he said he wants to meet us. They both arranged a meeting and then he came. He was really how she described him, full of fun and energetic, he bought us so many things. That day there was a different vibe in the house it was so different, even the neighbors could testify because we hardly get visitors in our house and this time it was a man.
He stayed with us for a while we got bonded as a family and then three months after in 2010 they got married. He treats us like his own blood, the same way he treated his daughter, no one could tell if he wasn’t our father or we were not his children by blood. Everything went on well, living happily even till date and we are in love.
