I have to admit, I am a big softie. I don't like scary movies, I get uncomfortable watching characters suffer on screen, I prefer happy endings. So with that in mind, sometimes after some rather more realistic show, there is nothing better (to take the pain away) than a good iyashikei (healing) anime. Flying witch is one such show, but is it actually good? I don't like cliffhangers either, so the answer to that is - YES, IT'S GREAT!

One of the best things about the iyashikei anime is the limitless charm they have in every detail. And Flying witch has enough charm for several of such shows. Whether it would be a cat that can be understood only by the witches, or maybe the harbinger of spring (obviously he brings spring to town) with it's cool character design. Maybe it's the herb gathering in the forest, or maybe even pulling mandrake by it's roots.

All such details bring the world of the show to life, like few other shows ever manage to. But despite all that my favorite part of the show is it's magic. It is not the flashy kind of flinging bolts of lightning at your enemies. No it's the subtle spells that are often never shown on screen directly. Maybe it's a spell to summon a crow, or perhaps one to make you laugh. Even with such simple effects, the portrayal is anything but. It exudes the mentioned charm in spades too.

Flying witch is kindness, good nature and cheerfulness animated. It like all such shows, show people at their best. And the characters of the show are definitely great people. After watching the show you will definitely want to be a better person yourself.

With all that in mind in give the show a 9/10 score.
