Sunday bliss .
It was rare for anyone to be able to sleep in on a Sunday, but that wasn’t the case this morning. As it would turn out, that meant he had been awoken by the insistent banging of pots and pans downstairs. He groaned as he tried his best to push himself up from the ground.

As if it weren’t enough, now his room was filled with the smell of freshly baked bread. It was one of the few things that could have possibly brought him back from the dead. As usual, his mother was determined to get her way.

He couldn’t say he minded though, not when all that came with the deal was having more time to enjoy his breakfast.
He slowly made his way downstairs, taking a moment just to look down at his surroundings. His parents’ kitchen really was quite nice.

The walls were painted a light shade of pink, and while the tile was old looking, it didn't look anything like a place that would hold a grudge over that type of detail. The kitchen itself was fairly small, though that seemed to make sense given who they lived with.

His father stood over the stove, seemingly engrossed in whatever he was doing. He looked up towards him briefly before continuing cooking something on the stove. After that, his mother appeared beside him. She had a slightly amused smile on her face, which only furthered his confusion. If anything, it should have made him feel worse seeing them both so happy together. That's exactly what happened when you fell in love.

"Good morning dear!" His mother greeted him warmly, wrapping an arm around him and pulling him into her side. He returned her embrace hesitantly, unsure of how she managed to keep smiling even after being woken up early.

They continued talking about nothing in particular until the table was finished. He took a seat at the very end of the long table, opposite his father. His mom sat across from him and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"What do you think honey?"

"It looks amazing mom."
Her smile brightened even further, before turning to his father.

"I agree." He nodded in agreement, "Your mother is the best chef I know." He reached under the table and took his wife's hand in his. They locked eyes, staring lovingly into each other's eyes until the timer went off.
