[ESP/ENG] Red Gala Dress Design Made With Watercolors. / Diseño De Vestido De Gala Rojo Realizado Con Acuarelas.

I have always liked to draw and in fact my first drawings in my childhood were dolls wearing fabulous dresses. I remember when I was very little, I was in preschool and they gave us a leaf of paper with two circles one on top of the other, basically it was a number eight, we had to make a drawing starting from the number 8, we could do whatever we wanted, some children painted a cat, other children painted a bear, I painted a doll with bows and a dress, but seeing that most of the children had cats, I thought I had done a bad job so I put ears and a tail on my doll, when the teacher looked at my homework she laughed and I was very embarrassed and started to cry. The teacher tried to console me by telling me that I had done a nice job but I was still convinced that it was wrong.

Desde siempre me ha gustado dibujar y de hecho mis primeros dibujos en la infancia eran muñecas que vestían fabulosos vestidos. Tengo recuerdo de cuando era muy pequeña, estaba en el prescolar y nos dieron una hoja de papel con dos círculos uno encima del otro, básicamente era un número ocho, teníamos que hacer un dibujo partiendo del número 8, podíamos hacer lo que quisiéramos, algunos niños pintaron un gato, otros niños pintaron un oso, yo pinte una muñeca con moños y vestido, pero viendo que la mayoría de los niños tenían gatos, pensé que había hecho mal ni trabajo así que le puse orejas y una cola a mi muñeca, cuando la maestra miró mi tarea soltó una carcajada y yo muy avergonzada me puse a llorar. La maestra trataba de consolarme diciéndome que había hecho un lindo trabajo pero yo seguía convencida que estaba mal.

Today I see something of myself in my little daughter Rafaella, she takes advantage of any carelessness to open a can of paint and grab my brushes, or a misplaced pencil is an opportunity for her to make an abstract work of art on the wall. I only hope that she continues to grow with her curiosity for painting and I want to encourage her at all times.

Hoy día veo algo de mí en mi pequeña hija Rafaella, ella aprovecha cualquier descuido para abrir un bote de pintura y agarrar mis pinceles, o un lápiz mal colocado es una oportunidad para ella de hacer una obra de arte abstracta en la pared. Solo espero que siga creciendo con ella su curiosidad por la pintura y yo deseo animarla en todo momento.

Getting back to the subject of what I like to paint I have drawn some women's clothing outfits and wanted to share them since a few days ago, among them this pretty red ball gown with one shoulder sleeves and pockets on the skirt that give it an avant-garde feel. It would be amazing if it could be made, but for now it will remain in the sketch, maybe someday it can be more than that. I share with you the step by step of how I made this watercolor drawing.

Volviendo al tema de lo que me gusta pintar he dibujado algunos atuendos de ropa femenina y deseaba compartirlos desde hace unos días, entre ellos este bonito vestido rojo de gala con manga en un solo hombro y bolsillos en la falda que le dan un aire vanguardista. Sería increíble que se pudiera confeccionar, pero por ahora seguirá en el boceto, quizás algún día pueda ser más que eso. Les comparto el paso a paso de cómo realicé este dibujo en acuarelas.

I made the sketch with a 2HB graphite pencil.

Realicé el boceto con un lápiz de grafito 2HB.

I applied a gouache of red paprika.

Apliqué una aguada de pimentón rojo.

I applied red pigments in more intense tones on the upper part of the dress giving emphasis on the parts where I wanted to give depth, volume and movement. I made some small shapes of different sizes on the skirt to later make flowers.

Apliqué pigmentos rojos en tonos más intensos en la parte de arriba del vestido dando énfasis en las partes dónde quería dar profundidad, volumen u movimiento. Realicé unas pequeñas formas de distintos tamaños en la falda para posteriormente realizar flores.

When I applied more pigment to the skirt the flowers became opaque until they almost disappeared so I had to accentuate them with black pigment and make more details regarding the shape of each flower.

Al aplicar más pigmento a la falda las flores se opacaron hasta casi desaparecer así que tuve que acentuarlas con pigmento negro y hacer más detalles en cuanto a la forma de cada flor.

With a pencil eraser I went on giving a little more highlights to have a little more movement. Finally I applied black paint on the edges of the flowers and on the edge of the sleeve.

Con un borrador de lápiz fui dando un poco más de luces para tener un poco más de movimiento. Por último apliqué pintura negra en los bordes de las flores y en el borde de la manga.
