[ENG/ESP]Amigurumi Engineer/Amigurumi Ingeniero.

My friend, the one who asked me to make the crochet bike that I shared with you several weeks ago, recommended me to a friend of his, apparently this person was interested in the little bike and came up with the idea of a small Amigurumi Engineer to represent his company, in which they make roofing installations, supplies and other aspects of construction. What a surprise for me. He asked me to make a figure of a man in a formal suit, with a helmet and also the logo of his company left me a little anxious because I did not know if I could embroider the logo as I have only embroidered with ribbons on one occasion and it is something totally different to do it with threads. My experience in embroidery is practically null.

Mi amigo, el que me pidió que le hiciera la moto a crochet que compartí con ustedes varias semanas atrás, me recomendó con un amigo suyo, al parecer a esta persona le despertó el interés la pequeña moto y se le ocurrió la idea de un pequeño Amigurumi Ingeniero que representara su empresa, en la cual realizan instalaciones de techos, suministros y otros aspectos de la construcción. Vaya sorpresa la mía. Que me pidiera que le hiciera una figura de un hombre con traje formal, con un casco y además el logo de su empresa me dejó un tanto ansiosa porque no sabía si podría bordar el logo ya que solo he bordado con cintas en una ocasión y es algo totalmente diferente a realizarlo con hilos. Mi experiencia en bordados es prácticamente nula.

I took courage and words of self-confidence, and today I share with you about this experience. I started from the feet up in one piece, including the arms. I like to work this way because there are no seams on the figure. The shoes and shirt I knitted on the body changing the colors of the threads, but the jacket and pants I knitted separately.

Me arme de valor y palabras de autoconfianza, y hoy les comparto sobre esta experiencia. Empecé desde los pies hacia arriba en una sola pieza, incluyendo los brazos. Me gusta trabajar de esta manera porque no se le ven costuras a la figura. Los zapatos, y la camisa los tejí en el cuerpo cambiando los colores de los hilos, pero la chaqueta y el pantalón los tejí aparte.

I also made the hair with a disc of black thread and then worked with braids, to color it on the head, first I apply a little silicone, fixed with a pin and then I sew everything with stitches on each braid.

También el hice la cabellera con un disco de hilo negro y después trabaje con trenzas, para colorearlo sobre la cabeza, primero aplico un poco de silicón, fijo con un alfiler y luego voy cosiendo todo con puntadas sobre cada trenza.

Once the little amigurumi man was finished, it was time to turn him into an engineer, since so far he was just a man in a suit. I started to make the helmet and it was quite simple, because I made a half circumference calculating that it would be a little bigger, as it is the most noticeable feature of a safety helmet. Then I worked separately the additional pieces that give shape to the helmet.

Una vez terminado el pequeño hombre amigurumi, llegó el momento de convertirlo en ingeniero, ya que hasta el momento era solo un hombre con traje. Empecé a realizar el casco y fue bastante sencillo, pues hice una media circunferencia calculando que le quedara un poco más grande, pues es la característica más notoria de un casco de seguridad. Luego trabajé separadamente las piezas adicionales que le dan forma al casco.

When I set out to embroider the logo, I noticed that it was smaller than I had assumed, and it took several attempts, first to get the right size, and second because I was not happy with the stitches. The smaller I had to embroider the logo, the more complex it became. I chose to embroider on a white felt, and I think it is not the best choice, maybe with another type of fabric I would have had better results, the thing is that I don't know which fabric is the most appropriate.

Cuando me dispuse a bordar el logo, pude notar que era más pequeño de lo que había supuesto, y tomó hacer varios intentos, primero para conseguir el tamaño adecuado, y segundo porque no estaba conforme con las puntadas. Mientras más pequeño tenía que bordar el logo, más complejo de volvía. Elegí bordar sobre un fieltro blanco, y creo que no es la opción más acertada, quizás con otro tipo de tela habría tenido mejores resultados, el caso es que no se cual tela es la más apropiada.

However, once the whole process was completed, I think it was acceptable, and I hope my new client will be happy and maybe recommend me to someone else. Creating a piece for a third party gives me a lot of anxiety but also much more satisfaction when I see the acceptance of my creations. I am very aware of my weaknesses, that I have a lot to perfect in terms of technique, but if there is something to spare is love in every stitch made, and I have the faithful commitment to improve more and more. No obstante, una vez completado todo el proceso, creo que quedó aceptable, y espero que mi nuevo cliente esté contento y quizás me recomiende con alguien más. Crear alguna pieza para un tercero, me produce mucha ansiedad pero también mucha más satisfacción al ver la aceptación que tienen mis creaciones. Estoy muy consiente de mis debilidades, de que tengo mucho que perfeccionar el cuanto a la técnica, pero si algo le sobra es amor en cada punto realizado, y tengo el fiel compromiso de ir mejorando en cada vez más.
