While we are all on lockdown, there is nothing more boring than doing nothing, I have had to fill my time doing something and every day I have found something to do that I would have left for "another day".
Today, I decided to respray my car wing, I have been looking at doing this now for months but I could never find the time.
My car was given to me as a present from my mum at Christmas, It has got to be the best present I have ever had from anybody.
The only problem with the car was my mum had left the handbrake off and the car had rolled down the road and into a wall.
It bent the wing in many places and left scratched all of it, It looked a right mess.
Since my mum gave me the car back in December 2019 I knew I would have to either replace the wing or fill and respray.
I looked everywhere for a wing for my car, the wing itself wasn't a problem, but more the color, every scrap yard has my wing in but my color is just unheard off.
I had looked and looked until I decided to start filling my wing with body filler, I now have a newfound respect to body repair places as it isn't as easy as you would think.
I had to sand and fill and repeat until the wing resembled the other side and this took forever.
Once it looked like the other side it was a case of trying to get the crease the same to match, this was so hard but I managed to get it right.
Once the filler had set hard, which was left for until today I sprayed self-etching primer over it, these are the pictures above.
Oh, and so you know I have had to do this twice now as the first time didn't work properly and the wing had to be rubbed down and started again.
I have just got a coat of color on the car and a clear coat and it is starting to look nice. I haven't been able to get a picture as it is too dark to take. will get one tomorrow and add it to the comment section below.
There is still so much to do around the house and in the garden.
I'll keep you all updated.
stay safe, keep well
