A customer brings in an iPhone X that has an iCloud account that does not belong to him. He has full access to the phone and can make calls, but he wants to remove that account, whose password he does not know, and replace it with his own.

This variant is also known as FMI Open Menu, and it is the one in which developers have had the most success in bypassing Apple device security, managing to deactivate the iCloud account associated with the device directly through Apple's own server. We clarify that this does not mean clearing a device's status as reported stolen or lost on Apple's servers, for which there are other methods that we do not use in our workshop.

REMOVING THE ICLOUD ACCOUNT

1- We start from the assumption that the customer normally uses his phone for calls, messages, and Internet access. He simply wants to remove an iCloud account that is currently on the device because a previous owner, who was a family member, set it up and does not remember the password. To remove it, the phone requests the password. The phone has a PIN, but in this case the customer knows it.

2- The first thing we will do is connect our phone to a Wi-Fi network. We go to Settings, open the Safari application, select Advanced, and activate the option called Web Inspector.

2-Lo primero que haremos será conectar nuestro móvil a una Red WiFi, vamos a Ajustes, abrimos la aplicación Safari, avanzado y aquí activaremos la opción que dice Inspector Web.

3- We will use our Unlocktool, one of the selected tools that performs this task. We launch it, choose the Apple option, then select the PROXY tab, and everything is ready to begin.

4- Now we connect our iPhone 10 to the PC, enter the PIN, activate the option that says Trust This Device, and enter the PIN requested once again. In Unlocktool, we press the lower button with the lamp icon that says EXTRACT DATA+FMI OFF. The tool performs the first step and displays a message confirming that the data has been extracted successfully. A dialog box appears to deactivate FMI permanently, indicating that we must first turn off Wi-Fi. We do not click Accept yet.

4-Ahora conectamos nuestro iPhone 10 a la PC, introducimos el pin, activamos la opción que dice confiar en este dispositivo e introducimos una vez más el pin que nos solicita. Presionamos en la Unlocktool el botón en lámparas inferior que dice EXTRACT DATA+FMI OFF. La herramienta hace el primer proceso, nos muestra un mensaje que ha extraído los datos correctamente. 5- We go to the Safari application, which on iOS is the equivalent of Mozilla or Chrome on Android; in other words, it is a browser. We open it and type www.icloud.com. We select the option to open it using the PIN. Then we turn off Wi-Fi, and if we click Accept in the dialog displayed by Unlocktool in the previous step, the final process begins. Within a few seconds, the account is permanently deactivated, as confirmed by our tool.

5- Now we will verify whether the iCloud account has indeed been removed from Apple's server. To do this, we open the free 3Utool application, copy the phone's IMEI, open two iCloud status-checking websites, and enter the IMEI of our iPhone. Both websites report Find My iPhone Off, which indicates that the device does not have an iCloud account associated with it on Apple's servers.

5- Ahora vamos a verificar si ciertamente se eliminó la cuenta iCloud del servidor de Apple. 6- Now, finally, we can safely restore the device, that is, format it, and it will no longer ask us for the account when starting up. We go to 3Utool, choose the Toolbox option, select Erase all data, and then press the blue button with the same name.

7- In about two minutes, the device will be completely erased and will start on the welcome screen. We configure it, and when we finally enter the system, we verify that the account previously associated with it is no longer there. We have succeeded.

We specify that this process was carried out on a phone that was fully functional and being used by the customer. This is not a process for removing a stolen or lost phone from the blacklist, something we do not do in our workshop. In this process, it is always essential to verify at the end that the device is in FMI Off status. If the process fails and we assume it was successful, then restore or format the phone, it will request the account at startup. This would be a major problem because the cost of that service is high, and we would have to pay for this mistake. When preparing this post, we concealed the last six digits of the phone's IMEI for privacy and security reasons.
