A French drain would work, it just isn't affordable to me at the minute, I was down the plot today and someone suggested turning it over with a tiller and adding in dry topsoil to it to help soak it up.

@intrepidthinker I feel it for you, I have taken on an allotment and have found that the second half to the plot is waterlogged from the floods we had back in November. The guy who runs the plots down

My advice is to get a tiller, It makes life so much easier than digging the soil by hand. I have spent hours shoveling dirt and it has killed my back to where I need pain killers for days at a time. A

@samstonehill, I had never heard of lunar planting till I read your post, it is interesting really. I know that some people say that the waves of the sea are subject to the moon so it would make sense
