A French drain would work, it just isn't affordable to me at the minute, I was down the plot today and someone suggested turning it over with a tiller and adding in dry topsoil to it to help soak it up.
The plants will leave channels in the ground to help the water drain through so when or if it happens again it will dry out faster. don't know if it would work as I think mine is about 5 feet deep and I don't think the roots would grow that far down.
I have a few raised beds on my plot, but there on the top side so no flooding, I have thought about building a hoop house and having raised beds in there. then I am using the space for something and the heat should dry it through.
RE: Im doing a raised garden. The yard stays completely soaked!
