This beer is so dark, it makes it’s own foam quiver.

Amundsen, Birthday Cake Celebration

Madagascar bourbon vanilla, Rocky road fudge cake, barrel aged stout.

Of all the barrel aged stouts, I think this one is the strongest I’ve tasted. Amundsen are absolute ninjas when it comes to hiding the alcohol behind complex levels of flavour. Their imperial stouts are legendary for this. But the gloves are most certainly off with this one! Not so much ninja, more like a full on Mongol assault!

The flavours are exceptional, deep, layered, indulgent, and very very moreish. But don’t get too comfortable, because this is a place where brain cells come to die. A once-a-year-beer for sure, but let’s enjoy it for being just that. Over flavoured, over boozy, and waaay over the top.

What’s not to love about that? It is your birthday after all, right?
