Why I Live Alone
I am selfish, self-centered, inflexible, a loner.
I have no children.
I have no significant other.
I have no time for others agendas.
I am focused on me and no one else.
Okay now that's out of the way. Let's get down to the meat of it.
I was an only child.
I learned to entertain myself.
I had friends, but if they were busy I was okay solo.
I learned to be a self starter.
To be self propelled.
If I wanted to do something I tried to do it.
I don't like procrastinating.
No shilly shallying for me.
I like to get down to business.
I'm not one for small talk.
If you want to discuss something fine,
but if you are just passing the time of day with your verbiage—
good luck getting me to join in.
Some would call me an asshole.
Others would say I'm anti-social.
Some would get angry at the mention of my name.
Some would laugh.
That wacko they'd say.
That weird character who keeps to himself.
He lives alone! Must be something wrong with him.
Crusty old fuck!
Where does he get off?!
Who does he think he is? The nerve!
All I know is I don't care for most people.
A few I like.
Most I don't.
I try to stay clear of them.
If I leave them alone—then maybe they'll do the same for me.
I keep to myself.
It's far less stressful.
I have time to pursue my interests.
I don't have to wast my time being hitched to another person's wagon.
I've done that. I've been married. Shacked up. I've been in relationships.
Now I'm a bachelor.
I live alone.
And that's why.
