Cala Lily - A Pencil Drawing

The Cala lilies has always been one of my favorite things to draw or paint, it has such a simple design yet it looks elegant, delicate and strong all at the same time. It’s a symbol of femininity to me

I made use of Creta color & Staedtler pencils alongside my Sinoart sketchbook

I started by sketching the flowers before moving on to add my character. I wanted to create a sense of realism to it, so I made use of a 2H pencil. It helped with balancing the shades and they didn’t smudge into one another. But whenever I wanted to darken the tones for certain areas, I referred to the B pencils.

B means soft. These pencils are much darker
H means hard. These pencils are lighter

To preserve the simplicity of the composition, I didn’t add too many shades to her face. I really liked the outcome of this one!
