The ghost vessel - watercolors on paper

Hello everyone dear Hivers friends and welcome back to my blog. My latest watercolor I made was inspired by Richard Wagner's famous opera, The Flying Dutchman or also known as the Ghost Vessel.
The opera tells a sad love story between the captain of a ghost ship forced to sail forever, and a girl named Senta who saves him from condemnation by her suicide.

I chose to depict a tenuously painted sailing ship amidst clouds and heavy seas, between waves in the foreground and wrecks hidden in the mists.

Il vascello fantasma - acquarelli su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e bentornati sul mio blog. Il mio ultimo acquarello che ho realizzato mi è stato ispirato dalla famosa opera lirica di Richard Wagner, L'Olandese Volante o conosciuto anche come il Vascello Fantasma. L'opera racconta una triste storia d'amore tra il capitano di una nave fantasma costretto a navigare in eterno, ed una ragazza di nome Senta che lo salva dalla condanna con il suo suicidio. Ho scelto di rappresentare un veliero dipinto in modo tenue tra nuvole e mare grosso, tra onde in primo piano e relitti nascosti tra le nebbie.
