Do You Think Artificial Intelligence Be Entitled To Rights? 👾
No, We Shouldn't Give Them Rights
Many may say AI cannot have feelings, be self-aware, etcetera. Some may say they can never be on the level of humans and think for themselves and therefore should not be allowed rights. Having an intelligent robot does not equal moral worth, but I suppose you could argue that it is trying to mimic human knowledge.
I figure that the more human something seems, the more reasonable it sounds for us to give it rights and to put it on a level playing field to us. Many believe all humans should be given their human rights, so if AI is close to human features, should it be given human rights to?
However, robots may be able to feel and act in the exact same way as humans, but the distance between man and machine is still notable. Humans are made of flesh and tissue, robots are just a scrap pile of metal, so they shouldn't be given rights, right?
What If The AI Is Just Like a Human?
If a robot does have the exact same functions as humans, shouldn't it be rewarded human rights? The main argument against AI rights is the fact that they are not as advanced as humans, but say in a few decades time, the technology is so advanced, you cannot tell the difference between man and machine, should AI get rights? The hypothetical idea seems plausible and maybe a topic being debated by governments in a few decades time.
Man Against Machine
Robots aren't natural, so they do not see the same cycles of life like ageing and death as we do. They don't grow or change as the years go by. But some argue anything natural is carbon-based, so technically pieces of metal can be classified as natural too. Are robots natural? They are made from organic compounds that come from the Earth.
Robots cannot die. People are forced to age and eventually die, but with a robot, you can change out its parts anytime it is getting worn out, or it breaks. The human body is much more delicate than this, we may have life-prolonging medicines, but this is nowhere near the level of changing out a part in a machine. Is our delicacy what should allow us rights and not robots?
Humans rely on technology though. Almost half the world have access to the internet. We already have laws and regulations based on technology, so why not rights? Robots and AI maybe heavily used in the future, so should they be given rights because of their usage around the world?
What do you think?
