Chandragiri is at the height of 2551 meters above from sea level. It is famous for breath taking views of whole Kathmandu Valley.
There lies a Hindu Temple named as Bhalesor Mahadev. There is a Mythological saying that Bhaleshwor Mahadev appeared at the spot where Satidevi’s ‘Bhala’ /forehead fell off from her dead body. It is believed that Satidevi ,wife of Lord Shiva gave up her life by jumping on the fire at her father Daksha Prajapati’s yagna (sacred fire ritual) after Daksha insulted her husband Shiva in front of scores of gods and goddesses invited at the religious ceremony. After that Lord Shiva was so, devasted by this incident that he carried his wife body for long Period of time roaming all over world
like a madman without noticing that the body he was carrying was decaying . Different ‘shakti-centres’ were established at sites where different parts of Satidevi’s body fell in course of Lord Shiva’s mourning.
It is believed that the one who go to this temple and wish his/ her wish will be fulfilled and they will find abode in the Shivaloka or Lord Shiva’s world in their after life
