These were shot at the northeastern tip of Île d'Orléans, Quebec. There are towns nearby, but development is sparse enough that the Milky Way was visible on this summer night. The second image shows the atmospheric glow from a campfire on the beach, with the stars shining through.
I borrowed a Fujifilm X-T1 with a fast wide-angle lens. I'm pleased with how it handles the night sky.
