This is a newly constructed solar power plant in the Negev Desert of Israel, and I thought it looked like Sauron's tower in Mordor. Thousands of mirrors focus light onto the receiver at the top of the tower, where it is converted to electricity. It was partly shaded when I took this photo, but in full sun is was blindingly bright. The receiver was clearly visible from 50 km away as I approached.
