Cutting my own hair slowly and steadily means it isn't as noticeable as big chunks. I know this probably sounds silly, but even the slightest bit of attention can drive me back into my shyness shell. Did I wear a bright green shirt and get more eyeballs? I'll wear a grey one next time. Did a specific state shirt get laughed at or cause surprise? I just avoid wearing that one out now. Neighbors saying hiya with their cute puppy doggo? Yes. Even the tiny reasons for why count. I try to be aware of my surroundings and hair clipping can help. It's also very freeing to have it short vs long. Less weight when you decide to take off your hair scrunchy. They are still very effective for when you want to remover certain bits and you don't want to clip near your hand or neck. I really like it short and flowy. Makes me feel more confident.
