This doesn't look good, in one of the articles the new law considers decentralized cryptocurrencies as some sort of property, it's taxable, that might be digested, but it's prohibiting the use of the cryptocurrency to pay for goods and services, this is very much against the whole idea of the digital currencies.
Is the Bank of Russia afraid of the power of the Russian Ruble and its use among the people? They shouldn't be, especially the use of cryptocurrencies in Russia is not that much high, there are considerable transactions occurring in Russia, but nothing near threatening to the Ruble.
What is it then?
If someone has a better understanding of this new law and how it would affect the digital currencies do share your thoughts, or at least leave a link to something more informing than the source of this news: Putin Signs Russian Crypto Bill Into Law.
