This bouquet has been standing on the windowsill since March 26, i.e. it has already been 2 and a half weeks old. It was given to my daughter after a performance in which she participated.
My daughter has been studying at the school theater for the third year. This year, their small troupe presented a completely new theatrical production. Before that, my daughter participated in 2 productions on the theme of local folklore. This time, the play was based on the fabulous philosophical novel by the German writer James Crews "Tim Thaler, or Sold Laughter" (German: Timm Thaler oder Das verkaufte Lachen, 1962).
In the mid-eighties, during my childhood, I watched a Soviet film based on this story. Two years ago, I watched a German movie about Tim Thaler and his sold laughter. That's why it was interesting for me to see the play my daughter is participating in.
It's Baron Trech himself. I really liked the game of this young man. Although the main character of the story is the boy Tim Thaler, but this Baron seemed to me to be the main character on the stage.
Of course, I also really liked my daughter on stage. However, two days before the performance, she fell ill, and her voice disappeared. During the performance, she needed to speak loudly and shout a lot. She did a great job with it.
The duration of the performance was just over 40 minutes. I was preparing for a longer action because I was familiar with this piece. I must say that the director conveyed the story's essence with minimal material costs and with a small number of actors, albeit in a very stripped-down form.
The action on the stage was very dynamic. The young actors sang and danced a lot. It could be said that it was a real musical. Even the live sound of a guitar was used.
Tim Thaler was very serious on stage. More precisely, I'm talking about the boy who played this role. It seemed to me that he wasn't smiling even at those moments when Tim should be laughing and having fun. As I remember in the movie, Tim couldn't stop laughing while taking pictures, it was a special scene that speaks to his laughter.
Baron Trench was amazing. I've already written about this before, but I'd like to mention his performance once again. He made a good gait and complemented it with a limp.
It's a pity that the denouement came sooner than I expected. Later, I even recommended to my daughter to convey to their director the request to increase the duration of the performance and pointed out the introduction of specific scenes.
The guys won back the performance by 10 points out of 10. For this, the audience rewarded them with applause and ovation. The headmaster presented small gifts.
My daughter has another year of study ahead of her. Yes, the theater presents its own problems, it takes time. I even wanted to ban my daughter from going to the theater last year, but I was wrong and I know about it.
