HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL OF THE CITY OF TROITSK.

Winter, January. Photo from the series - Photo story and reportage. In winter 2018, I visited this interesting cathedral - the oldest in the city of Troitsk. The city of Troitsk was founded as a fortress in 1743, and the stone temple was built in 1754. The original appearance of the cathedral was different than we see it today. It was one-story, and in 1823 (1825) a bell tower was built, which we see in the photo. Holy Trinity Cathedral was the center of the religious and secular life of the district and, above all, of the city. Under Soviet rule, they wanted to demolish it, then there was a gym and a warehouse for goods. And my story is about the cross in the photograph. They wanted to remove him from the dome of the bell tower, but they could not. They broke the cross many times, tying ropes and cables, but it didn't work out. Then two tractors were pulled with a rope, but again it was not possible to break the cross. There was a proposal to break the cross on helicopters, but they did not do it - because it was very expensive. And then more than once the Bolsheviks (communists) fired at the cross from rifles, wanting to take revenge at least for the fact that they could not break this cross. The photographs show traces of bullets and, interestingly, none of them got into the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I think this is a real miracle.
