The Point

Peak colors at Lake Dunmore in Addison County, Vermont.

Point and ridge

I've been watching this point on the lake for a couple of weeks. Waiting for the colors and watching for good lighting. Today was the day 馃檪

Walk

The walk down to the lake is beautiful right now. The trees are changing all over now. This stretch of forest is lots of beech and birch which are mostly yellow plus the pines and hemlock that stay green.

Field over rock wall

The tree line around this open field has a nice combination of colors. In addition to the rock wall there is the foundation of an old barn in the middle of the field.

Yellow and orange

I like the way the old rock wall along the edge of the field frames the photo.

And red

This field was recently mowed and cleaned up in preparation for winter.

Red

I like the landscape shots but sometimes there is one tree that deserves its own photo.

Sumac

Sumac is famous for pretty colors in the fall. This is staghorn sumac with is a large shrub/small tree. Staghorn is common in the New England. Low growing fragrant sumac grows farther south and in the central U.S.

Mount Moosalamoo

The southern end of the lake is changing but not at peak plus the lighting is more tricky for these shots.

Ridge some reflections

Some color is reflecting back from the lake but the lake is not perfectly flat and again lighting wasn't perfect.

Lake Dunmore

Here is my favorite place on the lake for photos. Always a pretty picture but I'm still waiting for a better fall colors shot 馃
