Easter Island

Easter Island is famous for its 887 monumental human statues, called moai, which were created by the early Rapa Nui people. Easter Island is situated in the Pacific Ocean west of Chile, at the southeastern most point of the Polynesian Triangle. The moai’s were created mainly from volcanic ash and basalt. In 1995, UNESCO included the Easter Island in the list of World Heritage Sites
