Death is a woman
She carries with her such incredible pain
and I regret cursing her name
because all those times I thought she was torturing me.
It turns out she was turning me into the woman I need to be
So, for once, what I'm about to write is serious.

You may want to grab a tissue for this
and find a comfortable seat,
There's a deadly lost soul I'd like you to meet.

In the beginning, death was a man,
but God realized things weren't going according to plan.
See, this man was killed with reckless abandon
So, God was forced to cast his eyes
on a living, breathing woman,
and even though she never applied
she was given the job when she died.

She put on the cloak with shaking hands
and oh, how she cried
over the years she lost so much of herself
everything that made her human
Lost, forgotten on a shelf.

She's left with hazy memories of who she was.
So please don't blame her.
If at times she forgets how to love.

That love is something she is hoping to find.
So, she lets her emotions build up over time
until there is a war between men.
Because it's she who wants them all in the end.

Thinking maybe if she kills millions at once
she'll find the one with the magic touch.
The one that will heal her heart.

But then the war ends,
and she's left lonelier than at the start.
Because death is forced to work alone
and even though she knows,
it'll never work.

She still searches for love
not caring if the world gets hurt.

Like many women, she wishes she could bring life
so, she wanders from crib to crib each night
she feels so alone
knowing she can't have a child of her own.
Sometimes she can't control her gentle touch
and her love becomes too much.

She runs away before she hears the screams of the parents
wishing she could explain it was an accident,
It was nothing they did,
but that night another baby dies from SIDS
and she holds the child in her arms.
But there's nothing she can give
The baby just won't calm down,
she aches from all the pain she's caused
so, she carefully passes the baby to God.

I know all this because she came to me in a dream
and that's when I realized things aren't as they seem.
None of this was part of her plan,
So much of this is out of her hands
and if you close your eyes and imagine
you'll see her compassion

When an elderly couple passes away together,
When a child with cancer miraculously gets better

In those moments of peace when someone takes their last breath
she is there greeting each person after their death.
But she's still so afraid and alone.
So, she takes and takes these precious souls
knowing sometimes it's too much.

But when you're a lonely woman like her
It's never enough
