Hello guys!
Yeeeeey I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. I'm writing this post to follow Splinterlands Mage Secrets Battle Challenge, Target Practice. These rulesets make all magic and range monsters have Snipe abilities. Therefore, each monster must have its own strategy to deal with these rulesets. I myself will actually use some strategy in dealing with these rulesets, depending on other supporting rulesets. So on this occasion I will share one of my strategies by sacrificing the Martyr monster on Target Practice rulesets.
Well, I'm not a professional player or a tournament hero. I merely like to discuss battles and strategies that in my opinion are worthwhile. I participated in this combat using my Scholarship account with IGN NIGHTMAREINBONE. I played in the Gold league at modern rank while using a Full main Chaos Legion edition card and several Reward cards whose level was not max. The battle strategy that I shared may not be effective in other leagues because of the different levels of each league.
Ok guys, without further ado, let's get straight to the heart of this post!
BATTLE PREPARATION
Challenge Rules
RULESET: Target Practice
Description:
All ranged and magic units gain the Snipe ability.
Battle Rulesets
The rulesets in this battle are:
- Stampede (The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed)
- Briar Patch (All Monsters have the Thorn ability)
- Target Practice (* All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability*)
- Mana Capacity 37
- Active Element Fire, Water, Earth, Death and Dragon.
Line Up and Strategy
In general, the strategy that I will use is to use Martyr monsters to increase the stats of other monsters that will become the main attacker. This means, the Martyr monster as a target in Target Practice must be placed in a position where this monster is at the forefront between Magic and other ranged monsters, but not in the first position. By considering Briar Patch rulesets, so I will minimize the use of Melee monsters, because all monsters will have the Thorn ability, where attacks from Melee monsters will turn towards the attacker, and this is equivalent to suicide.
In accordance with the above strategic considerations, I compiled a line-up of combined Dragon, Water and Neutral monsters, with the following arrangement:
| Monster | Position | Abilities | Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | -1 Range, -1 Speed | Considering the existing ruleste, I think Quix The Devious which has -1 Range and -1 Speed debuffs will be very suitable for this battle. This is because it does not rule out the opponent will also avoid using Melee monsters, and ranged mosnter also reduced damage, so the chance of winning will increase. | |
| First | Void, Phase, Forcefield | Djinn Oshanus is the main tank seklaigus attacker in this formation. I consider this monster as a tank because it has large HP, high speed, and has the ability Forcefield where if the attack damage received by this monster has more than 5 power, then the incoming attack is only 1. This monster also has a Void ability, so if the opponent also uses a magic monster as a tank, then this monster will be very useful because the damage from the cloud magic monster will be reduced. | |
| Second | Martyr | Venari Markstrat with martyr ability is the key to the strategy that I will apply. By sacrificing this monster as the target of Snipe, it will increase the stats of the monsters among these monsters. | |
| Third | Flying, Void, Phase | Void Dragon has a strong defensive ability from Magic monsters, because in addition to having a Void ability that will reduce the magic attack received, it also has a Phase ability where magic attacks also have the opportunity to miss. In addition, this monster also has a very high speed and also has a Flying ability. Magic, Melee, and Ranged's bail attacks each have a chance for their attacks to miss. In addition, if Martyr from Venari Markstrat is active, then the overall stats of this monster will increase and this will increase the magic damage possessed by this monster, so that it can support the other role of this monster as an attacker. | |
| Fourth | Triage | Angelic Mandarin concurrently acts as an attacker and also a support. This is because this monster has 2 range attacks with decent speed and also has a Triage ability that will support the monster itself or other monsters that are not in the first position that get the most attacks. Especially with the Target Practice rulesets where all magic and ranged monsters have Snipe abilities, these monsters will definitely be very useful for Tanks from Snipe. | |
| Fifth | Flying, Scattershot, Blast, Blind | With massive magic damage accompanied by Scattershot and Blast, this monster is the main attacker in my formation. This monster has a very large mana cost and is only suitable for high mana battles, but this is in accordance with the greatness of the abilities it has. Actually placing this monster right next to the Martyr monster will increase the stat of this monster which will probably make this monster stronger and deadlier. However, if it is located right next to the Martyr monster, this means that if the Martyr monster dies then the next target of Snipe will be this monster, and it would be a pity if such a powerful monster dies quickly because it becomes the target of attack from the Snipe monster. | |
| Last | None | A monster with mana cost 0 that serves as a complement to the empty slot as well as a rear tank to be the target of the opponent's monster sneak. Suppose the opponent does not use Sneak or Opportunity, this monster is still a complement. |
You can see the complete line-up of both teams as shown below. The opponent uses Conqueror Jacek as a Summoner, with the Moten Ash Golem position that has Close Range ability in the first position. Then behind him is Venari Markstrat level 6 who already has the abilities Martyr and Snare. The opponent also uses the strategy that I am using at the moment. This Martyr aims to increase the stat of the Molten Ash Golem and also the third position monster, Pyromacer who has the ability to Blast and Knock Out.
In fourth place, there is a neutral monster Sperit Hoarder who has Triage, Dispel, and Blind abilities. The fifth position is also Martyr monster, Firecaller and back palin in the sixth position there is Ash Mirage with the ability Headwinds and Reflection Shield.
If you are observant, you will definitely realize that the strategy applied by the opponent is also almost the same as the one I applied, namely by sacrificing V enari Markstrtat and then also strengthening the defense with Triage monsters.

I've also included a youtube video of this battle that you can play right away.
It doesn't take much time to complete this battle. Because the opponent on average has superior speed and also the direction of attack is erratic because of Scattershot, but both are still balanced in terms of attack defense.
As usual, this battle begins with buffs and debuff parties from Summoners and all monsters. Ash Mirage became the monster with the highest speed and got the first chance to attack. The target of this monster is Angec Mmnadari. Then followed by the Firecaller attack. As a result of this attack, my Torrent Fiend died in just one slash. Snare from Venari Marksrtat found out about the Void Dragon, and this made everything change. Near the end of the first round, my Venari Markstrat dies and makes the stats of the Void Dragon and Djinn Oshanus increase. Therefore, henceforth
Not long after the second round started, Markstartes, the opponent also died, resulting in Martyr ability being activated. The Molten Ash Golem stat of the Pyromancer became increased. The second round ended with the Spirit Hoarder dying from an attack from the Chaos Dragon. Although Pyromancer has a decent speed due to Conqueror Jacek's buff and the increase in stats from martyrs, the attack from this monster also misses this second round. The second round ended with both teams having 4 monsters left.
The third round began with Ash Mirage's attack on the Chaos Dragon. Then it was baled by the Void Dragon where its attack aimed at Pyromacer. Firecellaer's attack on the Chaos Dragon missed. Djinn Oshanus eventually died from Molten Ash Golem's attack. Then the Chaos Dragon attack that hit Firecellar killed the monster and made Martyr active. The blast of the Chaos Dragon that hits Pyromacer makes the Pyromancer die and the stats of Molten Ash Golem and Ash Mirage rise because of martyrs. Now there are only 3 monsters left on my side and 2 monsters on the opponent's side.
The fourth round begins with Ash Mirage's attack on the Void Dragon. it wasn't long before the Void Dragon died from the Molten Ash Golem's attack. It was Chaos Dragon's turn to attack, its attack hit Ash Mirage, and the resulting Blast killed Molten Ash Golem. On the opposing side, only Ash Mirage himself remained. And because this is a Range monster, the opponent can no longer attack. The victory is mine.
Finally this battle ended in the sixth round, where all the opponent's monsters were dead and I still had 2 monsters left, namely Angelic Mandarin and Chaos Dragon. You can see the final result of this battle in the picture below.
STRATEGY DISCUSSION
The strategy I applied was also very effective. Earlier I also shared a post with almost the same strategy, and this is proof that this strategy can be used by Target Practice rulesets. The opponent also uses the same strategy as me, but I can win this battle easily due to the Chaos Dragon.
