Fairy tales: we all know them right? From movies, from books: many authors and storytellers wrote different stories on love and romance and most of them have a happy ending.

We believe in it everytime we see a wedding picture. Or a picture of two parents with their kids. The perfect happy family. But is that really a happy ending or is it just a idea that pops up in us because of all the stuff we saw as a kid?

I remember as a young girl I would go crazy on Hallmark Romance movies. I used to dream of romances as they show in Bollywood movies and I had a collection of more than 300 Harlequin Romance novels.

I would read them again and again, hoping that one day my rich prince would come on a white horse to save my ass from all the bad things in the world and we would live happily ever after.

Then I grew up. And everything changed.

After many failed romances I became a bitter person and one day I sold all my Harlequin Romance novels, because I didn’t believe in a happily ever after anymore.

I became a cynic. I walked around telling people that happy endings don't exist: my whole life till then was a lie. That is what I thought.

But we all learn and heal as we grow older. Eventually I learnt that happily ever after does exist, but the picture I had in my mind about it was a fairy tale one. The day that I changed that picture from a fairy tale one to a realistic one, my whole life changed. It was all about the meaning that I gave those 3 words ‘Happily ever after.’

I realized that one has to create their own happily ever after: with our without a partner. Nobody will come to save you; you have to do that on your own. So, be your own hero! Work hard and the Universe will reward you with everything you need.

Everyone deserves a happily ever after. And the person reading this right now: One day you will get the happily ever after you always craved for.

Have a great day!
