📷 Trip to Würzburg

Hello dear friends,

Last weekend I was in Würzburg twice, after not having been there for years. I didn't end up there entirely by choice. Once again, I had two medical appointments that took me to the Franconian student metropolis, especially on Saturday, when the spring weather was at its best and the sun was shining brightly.

Hallo liebe Freunde,

vergangenes Wochende war ich gleich zweimal in Würzburg, nachdem ich jahrelang nicht dort aufgeschlagen war. So ganz freiwillig bin ich dort nicht gelandet. Es waren wieder zwei Arzttermine, die mich insbesonders am Samstag bei allerbestem Frühlingswetter und herrlichem Sonneschein in die unterfränkischen Studentenmetropole führten.

What's the next step up from dentist? Right, orthodontist.... . There's something coming up. Not that I'm in the mood for it ;-) Well, you have to make the best of it. So I parked at my new home. I just need something feudal with a few bedrooms.... . No, that's pure nonsense of course. ;-) :)
In the pictures you can see the Würzburg Residence. This magnificent baroque building was built in the first half of the 18th century.

Was ist die Steigerung von Zahnarzt? Richtig, Kieferorthophäde.... . Da steht was an. Nicht, daß ich Lust darauf hätte. ;-) Nun gut, man muß das beste daraus machen. Also habe ich an meinem neuen Heim geparkt. Ich brauche einfach mal was feudales mit einigen Schlafzimmern... . Nein, das ist natürlich Quatsch. Auf den Bilder seht ihr die Würzburger Residenz. Dieser herrliche Barockbau wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts erbaut.

I also studied in Würzburg for a short time and tried living there for almost a year. However, I never really warmed to the city. But it's not Würzburg's fault, as it has so much to offer culturally, among other things. On my way from the university to my "student apartment", I walked past the Residenz and the wonderful gardens every day. But not once did it occur to me to take a proper look at the impressive grounds. I simply had no sense of it at the time. From today's perspective, it's actually unbelievable.

Ich habe ja auch kurzzeitig mal in Würzburg studiert und auch ein knappes Jahr dort versucht, zu wohnen. Richtig warm geworden bin ich mit der Stadt allerdings nie. Die Stadt Würzburg kann aber nichts dafür, hat sie doch u.a. kulturell so viel zu bieten. Auf meinem Weg von der Universität in meine "Studentenwohnung" bin ich täglich an der Residenz und der wundervollen Gartenanlage vorbeigelaufen. Aber ich bin nicht ein einziges mal auf die Idee gekommen, mir das imposante Areal richtig anzugucken. Ich hatte damals einfach keinen Sinn dafür. Aus heutiger Sicht eigentlich unfassbar.

Well, better late than never, as the saying goes. In terms of the time of year, I also caught it perfectly. The park is particularly colorful in spring. My parents come here every year for a walk.

Nun, besser spät als nie, heißt es doch so treffend. Von der Jahreszeit her habe ich es auch perfekt erwischt. Im Frühling ist die Parkanlage besonders farbenprächtig. Meine Eltern fahren jedes Jahr auf einen Spaziergang hierhin.

My appointment with the doctor was very short. Fortunately, it was only a preliminary consultation. I still had enough time for a walk around the city. I hadn't been to the pedestrian zone in Würzburg for two decades. However, the cityscape hasn't changed that much. I still recognized everything. Of course, some of the old stores I used to go to are no longer there. For example, my two record stores where I used to buy a lot of vinyl. Later, however, I preferred to go straight to Frankfurt to buy records. The selection was much bigger there.

Mein Arzttermin war nur von sehr kurzer Dauer. Zum Glück nur ein Vorgespräch. So hatte noch genug für einen Stadtrundgang. In der Fußgängerzone von Würzburg war ich bestimmt zwei Jahrzehnte nicht mehr. Allerdings hat sich vom Stadtbild her nicht so viel verändert. Ich habe noch alles erkannt. Natürlich gibt es einige alte Geschäfte nicht mehr, in denen ich früher war. Z.B. meine beiden Plattenläden, wo ich einiges an Vinyl erstanden habe. Später bin ich allerdings lieber gleich nach Frankfurt zum Platten kaufen gefahren. Dort war die Auswahl wesentlich größer.

I think this motif is so great. Unfortunately, I didn't position the cell phone well, so the horizon is crooked. Sure, I could correct it afterwards, but I'll post it with this flaw. Perfect imperfection.

Dieses Motiv finde ich so klasse. Leider habe ich das Mobiltelefon nicht gut positioniert, so das der Horizont schief ist. Klar, ich könnte das noch nachträglich korrigieren, aber ich poste das mal mit diesem Makel. Pefekte Unperfektion.

On the way home, I stopped again briefly and took a photo of the Würzburg fortress from the side. I think I'll take a closer look at it soon and take a few photos. A great motif.

Auf dem Heimweg habe ich noch mal kurz angehalten und die Würzburger Festung von der Seite fotografiert. Ich denke, die gucke ich mal demnächst noch genauer an und mache ein paar Fotos. Ein tolles Motiv.
