📷 Out Into Nature

Hello dear friends,

Many of you will probably have made similar observations to me. Computers and smartphones exert a magical attraction on us humans, especially on children. It is not always easy to get children excited about outdoor activities. Yet it is obvious that spending all their time indoors and not in the sunlight cannot be good for them and therefore cannot be healthy. When this is combined with prolonged sitting, as is unfortunately the norm in our school system in Germany, the situation becomes even more precarious.

Hallo liebe Freunde,

vermutlich werden viele von Euch ähnliche Beobachtungen machen wie ich. Computer, Smartphones und Konsorten üben eine magische Anziehungskraft auf uns Menschen aus, v.a. auch auf die Kinder. Es nicht immer leicht, die Kinder für Aktivitäten an der frischen Luft zu begeistern. Dabei liegt es doch auf der Hand, das der Daueraufenthalt in Räumen und nicht am Sonnenlicht unmöglich artgerecht und somit gesund sein kann. Wenn sich dazu noch das Dauersitzen gesellt, wie es bei uns in Deutschland im Schul(un)wesen leider der Regelfall ist, wird die Lage noch prekärer.

However, I always manage to get the children excited about hiking. I place great importance on them participating voluntarily and having fun. I am fundamentally opposed to forcing them to do such activities. Forcing them would achieve exactly the opposite.

Allerdings gelingt es mir dann doch immer wieder, die Kinder für Wanderungen zu begeistern. Dabei lege ich großen Wert darauf, daß sie freiwillig und mit Spaß dabei sind. Zwang zu solchen Aktivitäten lehne ich grundsätzlich ab. Mit Zwang erreiche ich genau das Gegenteil.

We recently went on two hikes above Dorfprozelten near the wildlife enclosure during and before the fall break. Dorfprozelten is located in the southern Spessart region, directly on the Main River, on the right bank of the Main in Bavaria.

Wir haben zuletzt in und vor den Herbstferien zwei Wanderungen oberhalb von Dorfprozelten in der Nähe des Wildtiergeheges gemacht. Dorfprozelten liegt im Südspessart, direkt am Main, rechtsmainisch in Bayern.

The forest is not only a place to relax. It also has the best air. My children really appreciate that.

Im Wald kann man nicht nur zur Ruhe kommen. Hier ist auch die Luft am besten. Meine Kinder wissen das sehr wohl zu schätzen.

Incidentally, I can also teach you some basic things about the world of mushrooms. We didn't collect anything on our hikes because everything that was still in the forest was already too old. This also applied to these specimens, which were probably hollow boletes. In my opinion, the wide tubes and the stem strongly indicate this.

Ganz nebenbei kann ich auch noch einige grundlegende Dinge über die Welt der Pilze vermitteln. Gesammelt haben wir auf den Wanderungen nicht, da alles, was noch im Wald stand, schon zu alt war. Das galt auch für diese Exemplare, die vermutlich gelbe Hohlfußröhrlinge waren. Die weiten Röhren und der Stiel deuten meiner Meinung nach sehr stark darauf hin.

On the way back, I just had to stop again at the foot of the vineyard in Dorfprozelten. These bright colors are simply wonderful. Only creation can do this, only nature can do this.

Auf dem Rückweg mußte ich unbeding nochmal am Fuße des Weinbergs von Dorfprozelten anhalten. Diese leuchtenden Farben sind einfach wunderbar. Das bietet nur die Schöpfung, das kann so nur die Natur.
