I was recently on a trip to the Cuban city of Matanzas and I've fallen in love with this place. As I was reading, it was founded in the 17th century during the Spanish colony, so today it's easy to see that the architectural atmosphere that gives it an old and at the same time homely and charming air survives. Walking through its streets was a great pleasure. Its people are friendly and kind, and its surroundings look as if they were designed by an artist to captivate everyone who looks at them. Of course photos were a must. I really needed to take those wonderful memories home with me... so I did.
This bridge marks the entrace to the city and it's a symbol of it.
Ahead of that same street, a church "shows up" behind the bridge, at a really lower level.
The building seen in this and the previous photo is one of the oldest fire stations in Cuba and in all of Latin America. The curious thing is that it maintains that function to this day.
This is the view when crossing another of the many bridges in the city of Matanzas. To the right is a boulevard of stores and artists' studios.
Showing everyday life in its narrow and quiet streets.
