When I was on the Police Force, I use to stop by a Krispy Kreme on my way in to the district and I’d do some paper work. I would come in order my coffee and set my portable radio on the counter and start my papers.
This one night there were two other customers and myself in the lobby with the waitress. I been there for about thirty minutes when two City Police Officers pulled into the lot from opposite ends [I’m County Police] I glanced up and seen they were making a ‘tactical approach’- utilizing cover and weapons drawn. I glanced around some more and didn’t see anything out of place. The two civilians took cover over to a corner and I opened the door for the City.
Sgt.: “Officer, we received a call that this Krispy Kreme was being robbed.”
Me: “Well, Sgt. if they were… I was doing my paper work and didn't notice!… Come on in!”
We got the waitress out for the Sgt. to question about any problem customers and she told that she seen weird stuff going on in back. We found out that during our joint investigation, that the people in back, that makes the donuts, were selling drugs off the loading dock. One of their customers felt like he was shorted on his buy and called in a ‘fake’ robbery to the store.
OH YEAH! WE CAUGHT HIM, TOO!
