Hello Ladies of Hive!

For this week I will be answering Prompt 2.

This question made me laugh because my favorite color really has changed and it says a lot about how I have grown.

When I was small in primary school, my favorite color was pink. Bright pink. I wanted everything pink - my school bag, my shoes, my hair band, my uniform socks. Pink meant princcess, pink meant soft, pink meant beautiful....... If it was not pink, I did not want it. I even cried when my mother bought me a red dress for Christmas. I wanted pink.

Then in secondary school, my favorite changed to black. I know, from pink to black! But that was my teenage stage. I thought black was cool, mature, mysterious. All my friends were wearing black tops, black jeans. I felt like black made me look like a big girl, not a small child anymore. I wanted to be taken serious. I wanted to be seen as strong.

But now, at my age, my favorite color is green. Deep green, like leaf green, like olive green.

What prompted that change?

Life happened. I started loving peace more than attention. Pink was for wanting to be loved, black was for wanting to be feared or respected. But green is for me. When I see green, I feel calm. I feel hope. I feel like I am growing. I think it started when I started staying more indoors, working, planting small flowers in front of our house in Onitsha, watching them grow. I started appreciating nature, quiet life, small money, small peace.

Also, green reminds me of money and growth, and that is what I am praying for in this season of my life - financial growth, personal growth, spiritual growth.

It is funny how colors follow our life journey. My mama said "Your favorite color shows your season."

My season now is green. Growth season.
