Thank you! And yes, that makes a lot of sense. To find the balance between foreign and familiar, presenting the one along with the other so that the reader 'gets a real sense' of the more fantastical elements of the world that's being described.
With how you explained this, I recognise it is what fantasy writers do all the time, whether in Harry Potter or Game of Thrones. And the bar scene is a very good example :). It's a great eye opener! Definitely looking forward to any other content you have to share on the world building topic!
