“And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured” (Genesis 39:6 KJV)
There is serious bankruptcy of virtues in our world today. It is so hard to find one honest person these days, as every man is for themselves and everyone else to themselves. Good people are scarce, honest and upright people are so difficult to find, as such they become highly priced when they are found. Because where there is scarcity there will be high demand and increase in price. People are willing to pay anything to have an honest person work in their establishment these days. That was what happened with Joseph; he walked into such a situation where there were no more honest men.
So, when Potiphar learnt about Joseph’s virtue of honesty and uprightness, he immediately handed over the running of his house to him. He became the steward and general manager. Honesty landed him in the favour he enjoyed throughout his time in Egypt. Do not follow the crowd to get by with dishonest practices here and there for the sake of temporary ill-gotten favours or wealth.
Instead stand for righteousness and do the right thing, because a time shall certainly come when they will search for real honest and God-fearing people to man critical affairs in high places, and you can rightly guess who they will come for; You of course.
Avoid peer pressure. Do not compare yourself with those who seem to be doing so well with questionable sources of income. Do not fall for just any results you see out there, because some people have lost rest and sleep due to their evil sources of wealth. Do not follow unbelievers and compromising believers to lower your standards just to fit in, No! You belong to a class all by yourself, don’t come down, rather they will come up to look for you in Jesus Name.
