Yesterday, Matthew -my seven-year-old son-, came home from school asking me for a mobile phone because all the kids at school had one. My answer, obvious, you're not old enough to have a mobile phone, should we please our children and go with the flow of society that surrounds us, my answer is emphatically NO.

THE UNIVERSE

A CHILD NEEDS TO:

  • Develop their creativity. We understand that handling a mobile phone is important, but for other stages of life. Developing and expanding your mind is vital.

  • Learn to discuss face to face, not hide behind an emoticon. Today's children are being isolated, they no longer socialise, but through social networks -how social are “Social Networks”-. Sad or happy faces, where are the real emotions?

  • They must learn to play in nature, not become robots glued to a key.

  • A child needs physical activity, sitting-kicking, the only thing that exercises is the finger… Children's hands, today, are developing long fingers. Any resemblance to extraterrestrials is pure coincidence…

  • The language of mobiles -tata, xD, xG, xoxo, k, …- has corrupted the language. Today we use a third of the vocabulary that was spoken a hundred years ago.

I leave the debate open for you to give me your opinion.
