In a quiet corner of the university campus, young @derppunk was in distress. His laptop open, the clock on the screen ticking relentlessly down the minutes, and a half-empty cup of coffee beside him. He had completely forgotten about his research project on “HIVE and the blockchain” and now had only five minutes to complete it. If successful, he would be eligible for the BIG prize that would allow him to go freelance and work in the career he had trained for.
@derppunk looked down at his notebook, full of scribbles and outlines. “Where do I start?”, he thought. The image in his mind was that of a “beehive” in infinite space. Was that what he meant by his research? Or perhaps there was something deeper behind the string?
Time was ticking. @derppunk typed frantically, searching online for data. “Blockchain history, cryptocurrency definitions, cryptoassets”, polling the various platforms that had access to the chain such as “@ecency, @peakd, @leofinance and others”. Never had his eyes moved so fast to bring all that information into his brain. How could he summarise the material of the last eight years, it seemed like centuries of history, and he had five minutes to do it?
Then, a brilliant idea crossed his mind: What if, instead of summarising, I expressed what HIVE has meant to me and to several friends who live there? He mused… @derppunk laughed at the thought. But why not? After all, we are the users who give life to the mechanism, with each publication of original and interesting content, with each participation in the challenges of the different communities such as #freewritehouse… So @derppunk wrote his research with an unexpected twist…
The clock was ticking down to the last seconds. @derppunk submitted his project just in time. The moderator read the entry with surprise. “Interesting approach, Mr. Daniel Rivas”, replied his post. “I never thought any user would sincerely capture what their heart feels like to be on HIVE”.
@derppunk became the surprise winner of the challenge. His post went viral on social media, and soon a multitude of new users positively invaded, bringing more life to the network. All thanks to five minutes of inspiration and a half-empty cup of coffee.
After his unexpected success with his post, @derppunk became a campus sensation. Other users started visiting his blog, commenting substantially, voting on his content; and making their own posts with fresh, original and fascinating content. In this way, his small contribution helped to strengthen the network.
But the most surprising thing was when he received an invitation from @hivebuzz with all expenses paid to travel and participate in the BuzzParty Hamburg Meetup 2024, where he would give a talk at a conference about HIVE and the Blockchain. Well, that’s another story.
After the talk, @derppunk was surrounded by journalists and bloggers. Social media was flooded with photos and videos. Engineer Daniel Rivas “@derppunk”, had achieved his dream.
