GPS: “Recalculando.”
Yo: —¡No, no estabas recalculando!

No somos seres simples; contenemos multitudes.

Many years ago, when I lived at my mother's house in Caracas, Venezuela, my dreams warned me of two events. The first was a possible raging fire that would occur in the mechanic shop where my brother still works today. It turns out my brother stockpiled gasoline for use in the shop and right next to it he charged the batteries. I was already worried because my brother sometimes neglected it and left batteries charging all night, some of them defective or with internal short circuits.
I dreamed that, due to a short circuit, the cable overheated and caught fire, causing a large blaze. The next day, I moved the gasoline tank, and that night, my brother, under the influence of alcohol, left a battery connected. The charger burned out, the power cable to the charger burned out, and there was a lot of smoke—the battery was short-circuited. The fire was averted. Afterward, I moved the battery charging location and installed a modern charger with all the necessary safety mechanisms.

The other dream I had was about being imprisoned. I couldn't avoid it, even though the dream was recurring. Those who have read my work know the whole story.
Here in Canada, a situation took me by surprise, ha, ha, ha, arguing with a GPS. Imagine this: you're driving along, relaxed, listening to your music. Your GPS has been guiding you for hours, and you know an important turn is coming up. You hear it say, "In 100 meters, turn..."
And right at that moment, for some reason, my brain has already decided it knows the direction, or I've been distracted for a microsecond, or perhaps the music has immersed me in a memory. So, automatically, I turn the steering wheel to the right, convinced it's the correct direction.
Immediately afterward, the GPS, with that robotic, monotonous, and now somewhat condescending voice, tells you: "...left."
And suddenly, a small internal crisis erupts inside you.
Me: "But how?!" "You were going to say 'straight'! I swear!" I thought out loud.
GPS: "Recalculating."
Me: "No, you weren't recalculating! I'm the one who messed up because you didn't finish your sentence!" I swore.
GPS: "In 200 meters, make a U-turn."
Me: "I don't want a U-turn! I want to go where I was supposed to go! It's your fault for that dramatic pause!"

And so, there I was, arguing with a machine that had no idea of my frustration, while I performed an awkward maneuver to get back on track. It's one of those moments when your brain takes over, makes you look bad, and then you try to blame the technology for your own impatience. Well, this happened to me a couple of years ago when I was traveling from Toronto to Windsor, in Ontario, about a 4-hour drive.
Now, my previous columns were prompted by an invitation from @charjaim for her ongoing initiative This Life of Ours in her role as a Columnist for the #Holos&Lotus Community. This resonated powerfully with me:
“We are universes endowed with intelligence and consciousness; our lives are marked by a series of events that deviate from the linear, and on this path of self-discovery, we are sometimes surprised by our own capabilities.”

Now, I have the impression that I read this before in the words of a Chilean writer: Alejandro Jodorowsky. But I didn't have time to do the necessary research. And that writing is profound, let me tell you:
“We are universes endowed with intelligence and consciousness…”
A universe is a vast, complex system, full of mysteries, with its own laws (physics, chemistry) and composed of billions of parts (galaxies, stars). By calling ourselves “universes,” it suggests that each human being is a system of almost infinite complexity. Our “intelligence and consciousness” are the forces that organize this inner cosmos. We are not simple beings; we contain multitudes. We have an inner world (thoughts, memories, dreams, emotions) as vast and unexplored as outer space itself.
“…our life is marked by a series of events that deviate from the linear…”
“Linear” would be a predictable life—right?—. To be born, to study, to work, to get married… to die; all in perfect order. Real life doesn’t work that way; it’s full of chaos, serendipity, unexpected crises, chance encounters, and quantum leaps in understanding. You think you’re heading in a direction from A to B, and suddenly an event throws you to C or D without explanation. This unpredictable nature is what forces growth and self-knowledge.
“…and on that path of knowing ourselves, we are sometimes surprised by our own capabilities.”
Since we are complex “universes” and life is nonlinear (unpredictable), we cannot fully know ourselves beforehand. The “path of self-knowledge” is an act of exploration. Surprises (resilience in the face of tragedy, a hidden talent, the capacity to forgive) are the direct result of confronting these nonlinear events. They are discoveries of new “galaxies” within ourselves that we didn't know existed.
In this sense, I recall other crazy episodes that have occurred throughout my life; I'll just mention them without going into too much detail.
The time I tried to open the front door with my car keys—who hasn't been there?
You desperately search for your glasses, your phone, the remote control… and it's right there in your hand or on your head! It's one of those moments when your brain simply decides to go on vacation for a moment.
You leave something somewhere, turn around for a second, and when you look again, it's gone! Then it reappears in the most obvious place, and you wonder how on earth you didn't see it before. It's the magic of distraction.
And this one made me cringe:

The human experience as an introspective journey is exploring our inner “universe” that is constantly driven by life’s unexpected turns (non-linear events), which leads us to discover hidden depths and potentials within ourselves.
Well, I have no choice but to take advantage of this opportunity and invite my friends @josegilberto and
